Reports to: Maintenance Manager

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading a team that supports the production operation by minimizing equipment downtime and completing preventative and corrective maintenance.

  • Supervision of Team Members:
  • Coach crew members on safety, quality/SQF, efficiency, and cost improvements.
  • Complete annual performance evaluations for each crew member.
  • Each supervisor should attend roll call to assign daily work, answer questions, and give a safety reminder to team members.
  • At roll call and throughout the shift, check and correct employees for PPE, Lockout, and GMP/SQF violations, and ensure they are carrying required tools. Team members must have on a clean frock, safety shoes, hearing protection, and hair/beard net.
  • In addition to roll call, hold one crew meeting each week emphasizing safety, GMP's/SQF, RCA's, and ongoing issues. Director will frequently provide information to pass on during this meeting. Correct behavior and performance issues in private and in a professional manner. Document conversations and administer disciplinary action as needed.
  • Assign work, review/audit PM's, & follow-up to ensure work was completed as planned and quality of work is satisfactory.
  • Develop weekend work list from your area, ensure parts needed are on hand, and schedule a full 8 hour day for each of your mechanic s and electricians scheduled.

Planning/Execution/Documentation

  • Follow Supervisor Shift Change Task List.
  • Complete & turn in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) & 5 Minute Downtime Forms to AMS each day before you leave.
  • Ensure work orders are written for follow-up items and parts ordered. Provide information to AMS for carry over items and weekend list tasks.
  • Communicate downtime and follow-up to AMS, SPV's, CL's, MS, & DM. Meet with AMS or MS on duty at the end of your shift each day.
  • Monitor radio calls to be present at breakdowns in your area. You must monitor progress, communicate with AMS/MS, assist with troubleshooting, verify GMP & SQF policies are followed, & audit lockout of equipment. AMS must be notified if line is stopped for 10 minutes.
  • Audit 10 PM's in your area per week to check thoroughness and determine any training needs. Support and communicate in positive manner leadership decisions and policies.

Education and Experience

  • Must have HS Diploma or GED
  • Must have five years in a maintenance leadership role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Prefer at least 10 years of experience in maintenance
  • Must be willing to work in hot or cold environments
  • Must be willing to work around raw meat
  • Must be able to pass e-Verify
