The Delphi, IN location of Indiana Packers is recruiting for an Employee Relations Leader.


The Employee Relations Leader will handle complex employee relations matters that require judgment, interpretation of policies, while incorporating strong labor and employee relations expertise and experience. The Employee Relations Leader will also be responsible for driving adoption and execution of consistent core employee relations programs and practices in an effective manner, including meeting applicable operational and service level requirements.


Developing and administering training for key corporate stakeholders on company policies and procedures will be a core requirement for this position. In addition, the Employee Relations Supervisor will work to improve and solidify HR-related compliance programs and processes through proactively engaging the appropriate leaders within the organization. The Employee Relations Leader will provide creative, effective, and fair, recommendations to a multitude of workplace issues, and will perform the role with the highest level of integrity, professionalism, and fairness. This position will initially lead the 2nd shift operations.


Indiana Packers Corporation is in Delphi, Indiana, just 15 minutes away from the greater Lafayette/West Lafayette area, home of Purdue University.


Core Responsibilities


  • Advises and coaches stakeholders and other Employee Relations Representatives with issues pertaining to employee relations, which include serious workplace investigations, time labor management system, policy and issue resolution, performance management, employee separations, leave management and accommodations (as applicable).
  • Handles other Employee Relations Representatives with issues pertaining to employee relations, which include serious workplace investigations, time labor management system, policy and issue resolution, performance management, employee separations, leave management and accommodations (as applicable).
  • Promptly and thoroughly conducts and manages non-routine workplace investigation of employee complaints with systematic approach to address root causes, develop and recommend actions and countermeasures, and effectively conclude investigation by facilitating a review of the decision with appropriate stakeholders and close out of actions and countermeasures.
  • Addresses issues and concerns requiring the interpretation and application of policies and procedures to resolve issues related to employee relations matters.
  • Leads matters regarding employment separations, demotions, department changes, and position eliminations and restructures.
  • Provides guidance and counsel to stakeholders on matters pertaining to serious workplace issues.
  • Assists stakeholders and employees with dispute resolution matters.
  • Leads shift leave accommodation requests and solutions.
  • Assists with performance management issues, including development of performance improvement actions.
  • Supports internal and external employment compliance audits.
  • Ensures standard operating procedure and best practice tools are consistently adopted, sharing learning across the ER group.
  • Continually reviews policies, procedures, and practices, to improve employee and labor relations and helps build and implement innovative solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Remains current with upcoming laws and regulations helping the business adjust policies, practices, and procedures accordingly.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree is required from a nationally accredited college/university.
  • Must have at 4+ years of combined human resources, employee relations, labor relations, investigative, and HR Compliance experience.
  • Must have at least two (2) years of leadership experience in Human Resources.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision is a must.
  • Proficient knowledge of US and Indiana Employment Laws is required.
  • Significant experience in owning, handling, and executing employee relations investigations and preparation of appropriate documentation.
  • Strong capabilities with MS Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, IOSHA, and other relevant safety policies and procedures is a must.
